Mac OS 8 Internet Assistant Setup
Begin
• Open
your hard drive.
• Open
the "Assistants" folder.
• Double-click on the "Internet Set
up Assistant"
• Select
"Update"
• Read the introduction.
• Click once on the right arrow at the bottom
right of the window.
• Select
"Add Internet configuration"
• Click
the Right Arrow button once.
• Configuration
name should be "CALIS" If you are going to dial CALIS directly, select
"Modem" OR if you are going to access CALIS through a LAN, select
"LAN"
• Click
the Right Arrow button once.
• Select
the type of modem you are using, OR select the closest one to your brand and
speed.
• If your modem is connected to your modem
port, select "Modem"
• Select "Tone"
• Click
the right arrow button once.
• Enter
the telephone number you use to dial CALIS. If you aren't sure which number
is local to you, ask your telephone service provider. You can find a complete
listing of modem numbers at http://www.calis.com/access.html
Or call CALIS Customer Support at (800)953-9525.
• Enter
your username with a .ppp extension, e.g. "username.ppp".
• If
you are the only person using the computer, you might want to type in your password.
OR, if other people use the computer, don't enter your password, and the program
will prompt you for your password when you connect.
• Click
the right arrow button once.
• Select
"No"
• Click
the right arrow button once.
• For DNS servers, enter:
66.52.69.1
66.52.69.2
• For
domain bame, enter "calis.com"
• Now
click the right arrow button once.
• Enter
your e-mail address, e.g. username@calis.com.
• If you are the only person using the computer,
you might want to type in your password. OR, ff other people use the computer,
don't enter your password, and the program will prompt you for your password
when you connect.
• Click
the right arrow button once.
• In
the first field, enter "username@mail.calis.com"
• In the second field, enter "mail.calis.com"
• Now
click the right arrow button once.
• Enter
"news.calis.com"
• Now
click the right arrow button once.
• If
you want to test your connection, leave the "Connect" when finished
box checked.
• Click
on the "Go Ahead" button. You're all done!
