Setting Up the Multilink PPP Dial-Up Networking
Make sure you have Dialup Networking 1.3 upgrade for Windows 95, the Dialup Networking Security upgrade for Windows 98, or Service Pack 3 for Windows NT. Also, make sure you have two modems installed on your computer and two phone lines available to connect.
Installing Dial-Up Networking
First, determine to see if you have loaded Dial-Up Networking when you installed Windows 95, you need to add it before you can create a connection to the Internet. Double-click on "My Computer" icon on your desktop. If you see "Dial-Up Networking" folder, skip to the next step.
• From
the Start menu, select "Settings" then "Control Panels"
• Double-click on the "Add/Remove
Programs" control panel to open it.
• Click
on the "Windows Setup" tab.
• Click
on the "Communications" component to select it, then on the "Details"
button.
• Make
sure that Dial-Up Networking is checked. If it is not, then click on it to check
it.

• After this is done, click on the "OK" button to close the component details.
• Close the control panel. Windows 95 may ask you to insert your Windows 95 Installation CD-ROM and/or to restart your computer.
Installing TCP/IP
• First, determine to see if you have TCP/IP -> Dial-Up Adapter. Open Control Panel, double-click "Network" icon and select "Configuration" tab. If you see TCP/IP -> Dial-Up Adapter, skip to the next step.
• Push "Add" button.
• Select "Protocol" for the Network Component Type.
• Select Microsoft and TCP/IP.
• Now, you see the TCP/IP -> Dial-Up Adapter added to your configuration list.

First, double-click on "My Computer." Then double-click on "Dial-Up Networking"
• In the "Dial-Up Networking" window you should see "Make New Connection" Double-click on the "Make New Connection" icon.
• If this is the first time you are setting up a connection, you will get the following screen. You need to go through the wizard and answer all the appropriate questions as you would in the next step.
• Type a name for your connection, for example "calis"
• Find out the toll free local access phone form your initial installation kit or http://www.calis.com/access.html. If you are unsure about a local number, call your telephone operator to make sure your call is toll free. Please verify that your dialup number is a local telephone call. You can verify this information by contacting your local telephone company.
• Press "Finish" button to save and exit the set up.
• Now, you should have an icon in your Dial-Up Networking window named "calis"
• Right click on the "calis connection" icon and select "Properties" Now, push the "Servers Type" tab.
•Check the boxes in the Server Types according to the following picture. Push the "TCP/IP Settings" button.
•Select the options according to the following picture and push "OK" button.
• Select the "Multilink" tab and check the "Use Additional Devices" option. Push the "Add" button.
• Select the second modem, remembering to enter the local area phone number provided to you at the time of sign-up.
• Double click on the "calis" icon. Enter your username and password (all in lower case) and press the "Connect" button. You should be on your way to connecting to CAL Internet Services. Happy surfing on the Internet!
